Starting July 8, 2024, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has increased the validity of passports for citizens aged 21 and above from five years to ten years.

This initiative aims to enhance convenience by reducing the frequency of passport renewals for Emirati citizens. The UAE government clarified in an official statement that the extended validity will apply until the passport reaches ten years from its issuance date or until all pages are fully used, whichever occurs first. Passports for citizens under the age of 21 will continue to have a validity period of five years.

The issuance process for the new 10-year passports will adhere to the existing procedures and delivery methods, ensuring a smooth transition and continued accessibility for Emiratis.
